What is a figure of 8 lead and how does it work?

A figure of 8 lead is designed to provide greater control over the dog's head, effectively discouraging pulling and enhancing overall control during walks. When properly fitted to your dog, this should be snug but not too tight, it forms a loop around the muzzle, crosses under the chin, and extends upward on both sides of the head, eventually meeting at the top behind your dog's ears.

If a dog starts to pull, he/she ends up pulling his/her own head downwards, which is uncomfortable and weakens his/her pulling strength. In another words, with the figure of 8 lead, your dog would not be able to pull with his/her full strength and can be easily turned and stopped without too much pressure. Not only does this discourage pulling, but it also provides a humane and safe method of control. complete with Australia made high break strain solid marine rope.

HOW TO USE

• To walk a dog on a figure of 8 lead, first place the lead on your dog's head with the neck loop fitting right behind the ears and the muzzle loop fitting around the nose. Adjust the lead using the stopper so that it fits snugly, but not too tightly.
• At the beginning, most of the dogs will try to use one of the front legs to take the muzzle loop off if he/she has not had something similar on before. Please be patient with him/her as he/she would feel a bit annoyed.  Overtime, with consistency, he/she will learn the language of pressure and release.
